This feature is known as ActivePulse, and it's a big reason why I love the 1250 over similar treadmills in this price range.

The iFit app offers guided runs to places such as Patagonia. The treadmill will still function if you don't want to use iFit. However you won't be able to get the automatic adjustments or immersive training experiences.
